It always pays to be ready for the unexpected. After all, this world is full of surprises and uncertainties. As such, most people make it a point to protect their selves from the unexpected.
One of man’s most important basic needs is shelter. For so long a time, man has been seeking for ways and means to improve his living conditions. If man’s primary concerns before were only focused on making his shelter cozy and comfortable, these are not the only concerns today though.
It cannot be denied that the crime rates have increased over time. Moreover, these crimes were more concentrated on burglary, theft, and robbery. This can be attributed to the financial difficulties that are experienced worldwide. However, these difficulties are not reason for people to commit crimes. Sadly, this is the reality. Therefore in order to prepare for these untoward events, people implore the use of advanced materials in constructing their homes and premises.
One of the most popular construction materials that are used today are bullet proof materials. Bullet proof materials are materials that resist the penetration of bullets. In addition these materials are also resistant to cuts and indentations. Bullet proof materials are produced in many forms. These forms include bullet proof wall panels, bullet resistant glass, bullet proof drywall, and bullet proof wall board to name a few.
Each of these bullet proof materials are used in the construction of panic rooms, storm shelters, intrusion resistant doors, safe rooms, courtrooms, and cars. While steel is traditionally used for panic and safe rooms, bullet proof materials now replace the use of steel for various reasons.
One of the primary reasons is ease and convenience. Compared to steel, bullet proof glass is easier to cut and form. In construction applications, workability is one of the primary considerations in choosing a material; thus bullet proof glass is preferred.
Another reason is its resistance to corrosion. Unlike steel, bullet proof materials do not corrode, nor does it produce condensate materials. This means that bullet proof materials are sturdier and last longer, and contributes to environmental preservation as well.
The third reason is safety, since bullet proof materials do not ricochet or spall when shot at. This is basically the most important reason why bullet proof materials are used instead of steel. High powered guns can surely penetrate through steel, but with bullet proof materials, bullets are being absorbed rather than allowed to pass.
There are various suppliers of bullet proof materials such that availing these materials is not a problem at all. Although these suppliers seem to offer practically the same things; in essence these materials are not the same at all. Each supplier proposes trade secrets which are incorporated into their products resulting into various and distinctive characteristics of bullet proof products.
